Lewis Rice Welcomes Member Brad Wachler

Brad A. Wachler has joined Lewis Rice as a member of the firm’s Education Practice Group, with a particular focus on higher education and sports advisory and consulting. With more than two decades of experience in intercollegiate athletics administration, Brad works with intercollegiate athletic departments to ensure their mission, vision, and policies and procedures align with the institution and that they meet the needs of today’s student-athletes, fans, alumni, donors, and other key constituents.

Brad designs and conducts full-scale investigations into matters that involve Title IX compliance, personnel matters, culture assessments, sexual harassment, discrimination, hazing and bullying, and NCAA compliance issues. He also advises and guides universities through the complex divisional reclassification process, partners with athletic departments on developing visionary strategic plans, provides counsel on measures to reduce risk and promote a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment, and advises on Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) matters.

Most recently, Brad served as Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri. In addition to supporting 50 sport programs, more than 1,400 student-athletes, and 150 staff members, he oversaw and finalized the school’s successful transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. Brad has also served in various senior administrative roles at Central Michigan University, General Sports and Entertainment, and the Mid-American Conference.

Before graduating from Wayne State University Law School in 2004, Brad earned a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from University of Michigan and a master’s degree in athletic administration from Indiana University.
