Changes to Change OrdersFebruary 2017 – Construction Today
Several states have recently passed legislation to alleviate burdens and risks that contractors bear on public construction projects when changes are ordered. In the February 2017 issue of Construction Today , Lewis Rice attorneys Jeremy P. Brummond and Patrick J. Thornton illustrate the variance in how states are approaching changes to change orders through the examples of recent legislation passed in Maryland and California.
Jeremy P. Brummond is a member practicing in the Litigation Department, with a focus on engineering and construction. Clients include property owners, engineers, general contractors, and specialty contractors. Jeremy has significant experience in contract negotiation and drafting, and he frequently represents such clients in construction-related litigation including cases involving claimed construction defects, delay and impact claims, and mechanic's lien and payment bond claims.
Patrick J. Thornton is an associate in the Litigation Department, practicing primarily in the areas of construction and environmental law, medical malpractice, and commercial litigation.
