Barker presented "Ignorance is Not Bliss: Exploring Environmental Risks in Lease Transactions" at the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) Fall 2020 meeting held virtually October 6-9. In her presentation, Pam examined how each party to a lease transaction should attempt to reasonably minimize its exposure to potential environmental liabilities. ACREL is the premier organization for real estate lawyers, and its members are elected to fellowship for their outstanding legal ability, experience, and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in their practices.

Co-chair of Lewis Rice's Environmental, Chemical & Toxic Tort Department, Pamela E. Barker has practiced environmental law for more than 25 years. Her practice focuses on assisting clients with the environmental aspects of real estate and corporate transactions, and with regulatory compliance. Pam has experience in real estate development (including environmental due diligence, land acquisition, construction contracts and leasing) and in negotiating the environmental terms of merger and acquisition agreements. She has managed the legal aspects of brownfield projects, dealt with federal and state agencies on compliance and enforcement issues, and assisted clients in managing environmental litigation.
