Richard B. Walsh, Jr., Chairman of Lewis Rice, has been named to Missouri Lawyers Media’s list of Top Managing Partners for 2026. The list includes some of the best-known and hardest working attorneys who remain in the trenches, maintaining their practices and meeting with clients while keeping an eye on the firm’s bottom line and the day-to-day needs of the office.
Rick guides the strategic direction of Lewis Rice while maintaining an active practice in complex commercial litigation focused on intellectual property, antitrust, and securities matters. His leadership priorities include providing outstanding legal guidance, helping clients navigate emerging issues such as artificial intelligence, and strengthening mentorship and collaboration within the firm.
“I believe leadership is measured by the success of the people around you,” Rick said. “My role is to create an environment where our attorneys and staff are encouraged to develop professionally while delivering exceptional counsel to our clients. That means listening, investing in people, encouraging collaboration, and continually challenging ourselves to improve. If our clients are well served and our people are thriving, then I have done my job.”
Before assuming the chairmanship, Rick led the Firm’s Litigation Department from 2012 to 2020. Today, he handles high-stakes cases across the country and in industries including health care, professional sports, technology, and manufacturing.
The recognition highlights Rick’s contributions to Lewis Rice and Missouri’s legal community, while reflecting his continued commitment to clients, attorneys and the Firm’s future. He will be profiled in a special section of Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
Rick is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, was named Best Lawyers® “Lawyer of the Year” for Litigation – Antitrust in 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2025, and for Bet-the-Company Litigation in 2023 and 2026, and he has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers® every year since 2008 and in Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers® across nearly two decades.
