Lewis Rice member Ronald A. Norwood has been named as a recipient of the Missouri Lawyers Media 2022 Diversity & Inclusion Award. The awards recognize attorneys, judges, firms and organizations that are significantly advancing diversity, inclusion, and the dignity of all people in Missouri’s legal profession and in communities in which exceptional legal work impacts justice for all.
A committee of legal and bar association leaders from across the state worked with Missouri Lawyers Media to review nominations and select the honorees. Honorees will be celebrated during a virtual awards event August 17, 2022.

As Chair of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, Ron helped introduce several "Next Level" programs, including scholarships to first-year law students from economically disadvantaged or underrepresented groups; an internship for a Harris-Stowe State University student from an economically or academically disadvantaged group; and billable credit for diversity and inclusion hours, among others. Additionally, Ron was selected to serve on The Missouri Bar Special Committee on Lawyers of Color. The work of this Special Committee and active participation by Ron has resulted in six new initiatives being presented to and unanimously approved by the Board of Governors of The Missouri Bar. Ron represents national and regional banks, mortgage companies, and other financial institutions in commercial and tort litigation matters. He also represents health insurers, health maintenance organizations, and health care providers in health care litigation disputes and provides counsel to manufacturers in product liability litigation, consumer fraud claims, and disputes arising under the Uniform Commercial Code.
