Lewis Rice promoted Kylee K. Emert, Kenneth J. "Chip" Mallin, Jr., Melissa G. Powers and Kristen T. Southworth to members of the firm.
Kylee advises public and private companies, private equity firms and family offices in acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, carve-outs, strategic investments and corporate governance matters. She also counsels clients on securities law matters, including corporate finance and capital formation transactions.
Chip represents clients in commercial and civil litigation matters and advises them through all phases of the litigation process. His practice includes substantial toxic tort litigation, where he represents businesses and other entities in matters involving exposure to hazardous substances, including asbestos. Chip’s work in this area routinely involves taking depositions of plaintiffs, co‑workers, witnesses and expert witnesses.
Melissa practices general corporate and transactional law, with a focus on data protection and information technology. In her practice, she provides strategic counsel to help organizations safeguard information, manage risk, respond to threats and comply with regulatory and industry frameworks. Melissa also frequently advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, guiding them through each aspect of a transaction from start to finish.
Kristen counsels high-net-worth individuals and families on estate and wealth planning, estate and trust administration, and business succession planning. She specializes in customized wealth transfer and business succession solutions for families and business owners. Her practice spans the full spectrum of estate planning—from revocable trusts to advanced tools like Intentionally Defective Grantor Trusts. As a proactive advisor, she also helps clients restructure existing plans to address unintended tax consequences or major life transitions.
“Kylee, Chip, Melissa and Kristen have each demonstrated exceptional legal skill, leadership and dedication,” said Richard B. Walsh, Jr., chairman of Lewis Rice. “Their promotions to member reflect not only their individual accomplishments, but also the trust they have earned from clients and colleagues. We are proud to recognize this milestone and look forward to their continued contributions to the success of our clients and firm.”
