Lewis Rice is pleased to announce that Jissel Esparza has been selected to receive the Hon. John R. Essner Young Lawyer Award from Legal Services of Eastern Missouri (LSEM). The award will be presented at LSEM’s annual For the Common Good Awards Luncheon on August 20, 2026 at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton.
The Hon. John R. Essner Young Lawyer Award recognizes a young lawyer who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to pro bono service and advancing equal access to justice.
Jissel is an associate in the Firm's Litigation Department, where she represents clients in a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters. In addition to her practice, she is dedicated to serving the community through pro bono work and volunteer service. While attending the University of Arkansas School of Law, she earned the Pro Bono Silver Medallion in recognition of her commitment to public service.
"Lewis Rice has a long history of attorneys who make a positive impact beyond their private legal practice," said Richard B. Walsh, Jr., Chairman of Lewis Rice. "Jissel's commitment to pro bono service and advancing access to justice continues that tradition.
