Melissa G. Powers Receives 2022 Women’s Justice Award

Lewis Rice is pleased to share that Melissa G. Powers was selected as a 2022 Women's Justice Awards honoree in the Innovation & Technology category. The Women’s Justice Awards recognize women across Missouri "who have demonstrated leadership, integrity, service, sacrifice and accomplishment in improving the quality of justice and exemplifying the highest ideals of the legal profession." Winners in the Innovation & Technology category are women who advise companies, startups, and entrepreneurs on matters of intellectual property, technology, and other aspects of their business. The 51 honorees include judges, in-house counsel, legal scholars, and private practitioners. Awardees will be honored at the 24th annual Women's Justice Awards on Thursday, May 12.

In her information technology practice, Melissa regularly negotiates and accounts for software licensing arrangements. She advises clients on SaaS-based and other service agreements, in respect to technology licensing and development arrangements, as well as hardware and software transfers and equipment purchases. In her cybersecurity & data privacy practice, Melissa helps companies mitigate the risk involved with collecting and sharing personal data. She advises on compliance and best practices for data management and incident preparedness and provides critical legal counsel in the immediate aftermath of cyber incidents. Melissa also designs and implements privacy and security programs.
