Lewis Rice attorney Jeffrey A. St. Omer presented at the National Business Institute's upcoming video webcast School Law and Family Rights: Confidential Information and Compliance on December 17. Jeff covered a range of education law-related topics including FERPA, the IDEA, and school records accessibility; HIPAA and school records access; and ethical concerns when education and family disputes intersect.
During his career, Jeff has represented a wide variety of education-related clients throughout Missouri. His experience includes advising and counseling approximately 100 Missouri K-12 public school districts and higher education institutions as well as previously serving as the general counsel for the Kansas City (MO) School District. He routinely handles a variety of matters including labor agreement negotiations with teachers unions, coordinating district response to student discipline, and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal legislation. He regularly lectures to educators, colleges, and K-12 schools on education law topics.
