Aaron L. Pawlitz Coaches National Runner-Up in ABA M&A Competition
February 18, 2025Lewis Rice member Aaron L. Pawlitz coached former summer associate Austin Siener and his teammate Liz Eastlund to a national runner-up finish in a 64-team merger and acquisition negotiating competition sponsored by the American Bar Association (ABA). From Fall 2024 through Winter 2025, the team, which represented the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, advanced through the ABA’s Mergers and Acquisitions Committee’s second annual tournament known as MAC Cup II. The competition’s fact pattern featured a hypothetical $700 million transaction that required Austin and his teammate to focus on closing conditions, indemnity provisions, an earn-out, and post-closing restrictive covenants. Practicing M&A attorneys and Vice Chancellors from the Delaware Court of Chancery judged the competition and provided constructive feedback to the participants.
