Lewis Rice Welcomes Three New Members to the Intellectual Property Practice Group

Lewis Rice is pleased to welcome three new members to the Firm's Intellectual Property Practice Group in the St. Louis office. Robert M. "Bob" Evans, Jr., Kathleen Markowski Petrillo, and Michael J. Hartley are all registered patent attorneys with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

“We are thrilled to welcome this talented group of attorneys to our Intellectual Property Practice Group,” said Tom Erb, Firm Chairman. “Their breadth of practice in patent work and general intellectual property will bolster our already well-established IP group at Lewis Rice, and will allow us to continue to grow this thriving service area.”

The new attorneys bring Lewis Rice’s Intellectual Property Practice Group to 19 attorneys practicing in the downtown St. Louis office, which includes nine registered patent attorneys.

Robert M. “Bob” Evans, Jr. is a registered patent attorney who has successfully represented clients in a full range of federal district court venues, from direct negotiations to jury trials and appeals at the Federal Circuit. He has also handled post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Bob has a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame and a J.D. from Washington University School of Law. He began his career at Lewis Rice, practicing at the Firm as an associate from 1988 to 1990.

Kathleen Markowski Petrillo focuses her practice on developing and enforcing worldwide patent portfolios. She has extensive experience counseling companies in the pharma, biotech, medical, energy, oil and gas, agricultural, and chemical industries. Kathleen's clients range from Fortune 500 companies to start-up companies, universities, and venture capital firms. She has a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and a J.D. from The John Marshall Law School. A registered patent attorney, Kathleen previously worked as a patent examiner for the USPTO.

Michael J. Hartley is a registered patent attorney who defends a wide range of IP issues in a broad spectrum of technologies. He handles patent infringement, post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, trademark and trade dress infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, and other complex commercial matters. Michael has a B.S. from Muskingum College and a J.D. from Ohio State University College of Law.
