Biography
A former licensed CPA, Derick C. Albers represents and advises banks, financial services companies, trust companies, private equity and debt funds, insurers, and other clients on a range of litigation and corporate issues. His litigation practice focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation, securities litigation, banking litigation, insurance litigation (including coverage disputes), trust and estate litigation, fiduciary litigation, real estate, shareholder disputes, and employment litigation. Derick has successfully defended banks and other companies in “bet the company” litigation. In his first year of practice, Derick worked with a team of lawyers to secure a record-setting $60 million verdict on behalf of a nonprofit health clinic. Prior to law school, Derick practiced as a Certified Public Accountant at a Big Four accounting firm, focusing on tax consulting for individuals, corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, and other entities.
A native of Nebraska, Derick is a member of both the Missouri and Illinois bars. While at Washington University School of Law, he served as an editor on the Law Review and participated in a variety of activities, including moot court and the criminal justice clinic. Derick is a member of the Firm's Recruiting Committee. He was selected for inclusion in Missouri & Kansas Rising Stars® 2014-2018.
Derick serves as the Co-chair for the Firm's Recruiting Committee and is a member of the Firm's Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
