Action Required: Immigration Inquiries from [email protected] Are Legitimate

July 2017

A number of U.S. employers recently received e-mails from [email protected] requesting confirmation that certain foreign nationals have provided, or will be providing services, at the employer’s company. Late last week, the Department of State (DOS) confirmed the legitimacy of this DOS e-mail address. The DOS explained that e-mails from this address are not a scam and advised employers to respond in due course to the DOS request for information from that e-mail address. The DOS cautions, however, that immigration inquiries coming from an address that does not end with “.gov” should be considered suspect and reported to the DOS.
